The European Commission has given its approval to the acquisition of Belgian cablenet VOO by Orange Belgium.
It follows an in-depth investigation by the Commission amid concerns that the purchase of Brutélé and its VOO brand would lead to a reduction in competition in parts of Belgium
In December 2021, Orange Belgium agreed to buy 75% less one share in VOO, which owns the cable network in the Walloon region and part of the Brussels region.
Commenting on the decision, Xavier Pichon, Chief Executive Officer at Orange Belgium said. “Our ambitious investment plan, in combination with VOO’s and Orange’s skills and expertise, will strengthen the quality of our offers to the customers and ensure competitiveness in the Walloon and Brussels regions.”
Brutélé currently provides retail fixed telecom services through its own cable network, which it markets together with VOO under the “VOO” brand.
