The Middle East satellite and streaming platform OSN Group has signed a new multi-year licensing deal with Warner Bros. Discovery.
The agreement makes OSN the exclusive home of HBO content in the region, ahead of the launch of the fourth and final season of Succession, slated to drop on Sunday March 26.
Variety, which first reported the story, said OSN had lost some momentum after Disney+ withdrew its content from its platform and in June 2022 and became a standalone platform.
“OSN is, and will continue to be the only place for HBO content in the region and we are excited to expand on this long-term partnership with the studio and Warner Bros Discovery.” said OSN CEO Joe Kawkabani, in a statement.
The new agreement gives rights for the broadcasting and streaming of HBO content on OSNtv and OSN+.
“We are excited to expand our partnership with our highly valued partner OSN,” said Said Jamie Cooke, general manager for Middle East and Turkey, Warner Bros. Discovery. “As Warner Bros. Discovery, we have a wide variety of content to offer and we’re delighted that we can now offer OSN’s viewers the possibility to enjoy even more of their favourite shows.”
Estimates from the London-based Ovum put subscriber numbers for the Dubai-based platform at one million households.
