February 28, 2023 06.50 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Canal+ Group’s Czech and Slovak operator Skylink has launched Canal+ Action in the two countries and at the same time added five SPI International channels to its OTT service Skylink Live TV.

It has also moved the channel Spektrum Home to its Digital package and announced price changes to Skylink Live TV that will come into effect on April 4.

Canal+ Action is new to the Czech Republic and Slovakia and is being made available on satellite and Skylink Live TV from February 28. It will be offered to all Skylink customers throughout March irrespective of the package they subscribe to.

Canal+ Action is also being made available to freeSAT subscribers on February 28 and will be offered by T-Mobile, Slovak Telekom and Digi Slovakia from March 1.

Meanwhile, the new SPI International channels available on Sklylink Live TV from the beginning of March are FilmBox Stars, FilmBox Extra, DocuBox, FilmBox Premium and FilmBox Family.

Both SPI International and freeSAT are part of Canal+ Group, while T-Mobile, Slovak Telekom and Digi Slovakia are Deutsche Telekom companies.

Commenting on the developmenst, Berk Uziyel, CEO of SPI International, which is now part of Canal+, said: “As a company committed to delivering world-class entertainment across the board, we are thrilled to be expanding the Skylink Live TV offering with the delivery of five popular channels from our portfolio. These new programs will provide film enthusiasts with a wide range of quality content that will further enhance the experience on TV screens”.

Ladislav Rehacek, VP of Canal+ Luxembourg for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which operates the Skylink and freeSAT platforms, added: “Interest in Skylink Live TV is still growing, 25% of our customers currently use the service. I believe that its extension to other SPI International programs, which have been part of our satellite offer for a long time, will be appreciated by users”.
