Canal+ is to launch a new channel centred on cinema before the end of 2023.
At a press conference based around Canal’s cinematic offering Canal+ Group Chairman and CEO Maxime Saada gave scant details of the new pay channel that will be known as Canal+ Box Office.
“2023 will be the most beautiful year for cinema in the history of Canal+. We’ve never held an event like this before devoted only to the cinema, but we felt the need to talk about this,” said Saada. The event celebrated the pay-TV broadcaster’s role in French and international cinema.
The new channel would be a sister service to Canal+ Grand écran, which launched in February 2022.
Canal+ Box Office is slated for a September launch.
