Story4 launches in Czech Republic and Slovakia

February 9, 2023 11.36 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Luxembourg-based Network4 Group, whose main operations are in Hungary, has launched its first channel in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Known as Story4, it is aimed at female viewers and offers a quality alternative for those who want to watch popular, high-quality European productions instead of, or in addition to, Hollywood content. Focusing on family-friendly, romantic films and series, it wil linitially have over 1,000 hours of entertainment, with 500 hours of new content added each year. More than half of the programmes were produced after 2014, and 80% are only available on Story4. Story4 also presents seven series that have never been seen on the Czech or Slovak market, and all films and series presented to the public will be dubbed.

Commenting on the launch, András Borsány-Gyenes, president of the Luxembourg-based Network4 Group and Budapest-based DMC/Digital Media and Communications Ltd, said: “We conducted extensive research before launching the channel. We came to the conclusion that there is a lack of linear TV channels that meet the needs of female viewers, who want quality content and to put them first. This is how STORY4 was born, and it is unlike anything else available on the market today. Our slogan is ‘for true romantics who love a good story’, and accordingly, we bring the most romance to Czech and Slovak viewers”.

Tamás Horváth, CFO and deputy CEO of the company, added: “International know-how and serving local needs are factors that guarantee the success of STORY4. We have been operating the entire portfolio of entertainment channels in Hungary for several years. Network4 has taken the first step to become an indispensable player in the regional market, with its diversified portfolio available on multiple platforms”.

Network4 s operates a portfolio of five general entertainment channels (TV4, Film4, Story4, Galaxy4, Max4), two sports channels (Arena4, Match4) and a streaming service (Net4+).
