Video Solutions AG, the media company that owns and operates wedotv AVOD and FAST Channels, has completed a multi-platform launch in Italy for its wedo movies and wedo big stories FAST Channels and direct-to-consumer platform wedotv.
These launches mark the first time the company has expanded outside its initial launch territories of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the UK.
As of today, wedo movies, which is a female-skewing movie service, and wedo big stories, which focuses on true crime, nature and science documentaries and lifestyle programming, are available as FAST Channels to consumers in Italy owning Samsung’s smart TVs that include the built-in streaming platform Samsung TV Plus.
The direct-to-consumer service wedotv.com and all associated apps are also available with navigation in Italian and Italian programming.
“We have focused on our core German and UK business approach over the past four years; fine tuning our entertainment offer, brand consistency, navigation, and user experience. All of our services are operating in sync, entertaining millions of viewers and performing beyond our wildest expectations. We knew it was time to expand into other new major European territories,” said Philipp Rotermund, Co-CEO and Founder, Video Solutions AG.
Chris Sharp, Co-CEO and Founder, Video Solutions AG, added: “The expansion into Italy is a significant step for wedotv – our entertainment services are available in three of the five biggest television markets in Europe with rollouts across FAST and direct-to-consumer apps fully customised for the local audience. We cater to the local language and tastes of viewers to make our service a must-have for anyone looking for high-quality free entertainment.”
Cristina Sala, Italy Country Lead, Samsung TV Plus, said: “Samsung TV Plus Italy is excited to have two new FAST Channels on its service with wedo movies – ‘Film al Femminile’ – and we do big stories – ‘Grandi Documentari’. The Samsung TV Plus service in Italy now has more than 90 channels.”
Video Solutions recently announced that its active users more than doubled across all of its AVOD and FAST platforms in 2022. The company is also set to roll out its services in other major European territories, US and Africa, as well as add more genre-based channels to its offering later in 2023.
