AMC Networks International Central and Northern Europe (AMCNI) and the Czech national transmission company CRA have signed an agreement allowing for the TV channel Spektrum Home to be distributed terrestrially from March 1.
It will be carried on the DVB-T2 multiplex 23, which covers 99% of households in the Czech Republic.
Commenting on the development, Levente Málnay B., executive VP/director of AMCNI, said: “The Czech market is key for us in the CNE region, so it is a strategic step to ensure our station’s wider distribution to an increasing number of households. In this effort, CRA is a great partner that will allow us to take the next step and open a new window in the field of lifestyle entertainment television”.
Milos Mastník, CEO of CRA, added: “We are delighted that terrestrial digital television broadcasting is expanding with another station, namely Spektrum Home, which until now was only available in paid distribution. It is proof of the strength and quality of the terrestrial digital TV platform, which is available to the largest number of households in the Czech Republic, while offering all stations to viewers free of charge”.
AMCNI distributes AMC, Film+, CBS Reality, Spektrum, Spektrum Home, TV Paprika, Sport1, Sport2, Minimax and JimJam in the Czech Republic.
Recently, the Czech Broadcasting Council (RRTV) granted it a 12-year licence for the terrestrial distribution of Spektrum Home, effective February 1.
