Viaplay hires Chad Campbell

January 30, 2023 12.14 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Chad Campbell has been appointed head of public relations for Viaplay Group in North America.

In his new role, he will oversee local publicity and events for the upcoming direct-to-consumer launches of the Viaplay streaming service in the US and Canada.

Campbell will report to Anna Munkenberg-Fecci, SVP, marketing & communications UK, North America & Viaplay Select, and work closely with both Munkenberg-Fecci and Vanda Rapti, CCO for North America & Viaplay Select.

Campbell previously spent 15 years leading domestic and international publicity for AMC Networks’ British TV-focused streamer Acorn TV. Before then, he worked at a national broadcast network (NPR), a film studio (Lionsgate), a national publicity agency (DDA) and movie promotions/publicity field agencies (Allied Global Marketing in Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD).

Commenting on the appointment, Rapti said: “We are thrilled that Chad is joining our team. He brings strong leadership and media relationships, and an impressive track record in streaming and international programming. Chad is an ideal addition to the regional team as we launch our direct-to-consumer offering and grow our subscriber numbers. His skills will be key in creating excitement around the incredible content Viaplay will bring to North American audiences”.

Campbell added: “After 15 years leading global PR strategies for international content, it’s a dream come to true to join one of the biggest European streamers as they launch direct-to-consumer in the US and Canada. I’m excited about this opportunity to work with such a diverse slate of content, featuring first-rate production values, incredible scenery and edge-of-your-seat storylines that will make Viaplay a perfect streaming addition for fans of high-quality drama”.
