Simply.TV provides YouSee with an improved UI and UX experience

January 27, 2023 12.31 Europe/London By Julian Clover

YouSee is planning an upgrade to its TV offer after signing a multi-year agreement with Simply TV.

The metadata provider is offering the Danish telco a new dataset that will improve universal search across linear and streaming with advanced and rich metadata.

“With Simply.TV, we have found a highly flexible metadata partner, with whom we can scale and grow. That gears us for both advanced content discovery experience as well as a universal service across linear and streaming,” says Jannie Marie Kaarsberg, Senior Director, Content Operations at YouSee.

YouSee has a portfolio that covers linear channels, streaming services and video-on-demand options. The advanced metadata from Simply.TV has helped strengthen the platform both in terms of visuals, recommendations via keywords, extensive sports data, accurate data via direct and constant ingestion of broadcaster data and a fully normalized ID space bringing all services together.

Daniel Rühmann, COO at Simply.TV, comments: “Signing a multiyear deal with YouSee strongly shows that the biggest telcos and pay-TV operators are starting to see metadata as a strategic asset for their ability to compete with the global streaming services.”

Denmark-based SimpliTV was founded in 2019 by Rühmann and Morten Trolle, who between them at worked for Red Bee Media (Ericsson) and Gracenote.
