The Polish pay-TV market accounts for 0.25% of the country’s GDP, placing it only just behind the UK’s 0.26%.
Furthermore, according to the findings of a report produced by Arthur D. Little for the Polish Foundation for the Development of Communication (Piskel) and published by Wirtualne Media, this is more than the totals for Germany (0.20%), France (0.15%) and Italy (0.13%).
Meanwhile, pay-TV penetration in Poland stands at 88%, which is behind Romania and France but ahead of the Netherlands (87%), Czech Republic (77%) and Germany (72%).
However, Broadband TV News notes that the figure for the Czech Republic is much higher than quoted by other sources.
The report also shows that the pay-TV market in Poland was worth €1.5 billion in 2022. DTH accounted for well over half (€0.9 billion) of the total, with cable and IPTV claiming €0.4 billion and €0.1 billion respectively. By way of comparison, the pay-TV markets in Germany and UK were each worth €7.3 billion and France’s €3.7 billion.
