Colman Deegan, CEO of Vodafone Spain, has informed the company of his decision to leave his position on March 31. He will continue advising on strategic projects of the Vodafone Group until the end of July, when his final departure will take place.
In a statement, Vodafone Spain says that over the past two years, as CEO of the company, Deegan has made a significant contribution, leading it through the end of the pandemic at a critical time in the Spanish telecommunications market. Maintaining profitability, he has promoted a profound transformation of the business focused on the search for efficiency, the simplification of processes, the improvement of the customer experience, as well as the promotion of a new commercial strategy and the entry into new businesses. Likewise, he has strengthened relations with the administration with the purpose of creating the conditions for improving competitiveness, profitability and investment in the sector.
The statement adds that during this period, Deegan has laid the structural and operational foundations for improving competitiveness, anticipating the strategic decisions necessary to capture growth opportunities in a changing market scenario.
Deegan began his career at Vodafone 25 years ago, holding positions such as group head of M&A, CFO at Vodafone India and Vodafone Italy, and as CEO of Vodafone Turkey, where revenues doubled during a tenure marked by the transformation of the business and the promotion of digitisation.
Vodafone Spain notes that it is being integrated into the European Cluster on January 12. This reflects the simplification efforts of the Vodafone Group and represents an opportunity to accelerate the return to business growth in Spain, thanks to the support of a management team led by Serpil Timuray, current CEO of the Vodafone European Cluster. Serpil has been CEO of the European Cluster since October 2018 and a member of the Vodafone Group executive committee since 2014. Previously, she held the position of director of commercial operations and strategy of the Vodafone Group as well as regional CEO for AMAP (Africa, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific).
