The Dutch media authority CVDM has granted a five-year broadcasting licence to the independent Russian channel Dohzd (TV Rain).
According to the regulator, TV Rain submitted an application for a licence on December 6, 2022 and this was granted after securing additional information from the channel.
In a statement, CVDM points out that although the Latvian regulator NEPLP withdrew TV Rain’s licence on December 6, there are no grounds for refusing it a licence in the Netherlands in accordance with the terms of the 2008 Media Act. It also says that TV Rain’s licence came into effect on December 22.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, NEPLP withdrew TV Rain’s licence on the grounds of national security and public order.
Meanwhile in the Netherlands, TV Rain has been broadcasting from its own studio in the DPG Media building in Amsterdam since October 2022.
