Google has updated figures on the number of devices that use either Google TV or Android TV.
The company used CES to announce Android TV OS, the underlying platform that runs both Android TV and Google TV, was on 150 million devices.
The figure represents solid growth of 40 million on the 110 million active users that were announced 12 months ago, buoyed by Google’s Chromecast and TCL-manufactured TVs. Previously TCL has supplied TVs equipped with Roku OS.
Included in the 150 million devices will be phones as well as set-top boxes, meaning that some users are likely to have more than one device.
Google is currently moving from Android TV to Google TV with more manufacturers expected to come on board.
