Czech tower company outlines streaming strategy

December 20, 2022 12.46 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Czech national transmission company CRa is currently providing Livesport streaming services to more than 10 countries.

According to the company, it provides processing and storage of content in VOD mode for Livesport. The distribution of content takes place through its own unique CDN network, which is sufficiently robust and has adequate capacity even for such extensive cooperation. The service also includes modern players for web browsers and mobile applications.

Commenting on its activities, Milos Mastník, CEO of CRa, said: “Today, from the results of various surveys, we can clearly see the inclination of viewers to the possibility of watching the most interesting moments from individual events and not spending time in front of screens and displays for the entire duration of the event.

“At the same time, especially young people want to have the most interesting things available at any time and ideally on any type of device. In order to help our clients fulfill these needs, we use our own CDN, a sufficiently capacity and robust content delivery network that can withstand a significant rush of users and huge data flows at one time. And precisely for Livesport’s intentions, this possibility is excellent, for which we are very happy”.

For Livesport, the launch of audiovisual content is an important part of its further plans to acquire new users.

Alan Záruba, its chief digital content officer, added: “Multimedia content is an indivisible part of every sports news these days. We mainly strive to offer our users curated video content in context with our results service across all markets. For such a large range of users, the efficiency and speed of video transmission is essential, and in this sense we have found a reliable and high-quality partner in CRa.

“Our goal was to launch full-format coverage before the Qatar Championship, which is the sporting event of the year. Thanks to CRa, we were able to do this – not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Brazil, France, Great Britain and other key countries”.

Livesport is one of the world’s leading providers of sports information. The purely Czech technology company has been developing websites and applications with sports content since 2006. Livesport’s flagship is the global Flashscore network (Livesport.cz is its Czech version), which brings fans fast news from more than 35 sports. More than 100 million unique users from all over the world search the Flashscore network for real-time results, news, statistics and other sports content in more than 30 world languages.

Meanwhile, as part of OTT services, CRa provides the CRa Media Cloud product, which includes a full range of services from content processing for internet distribution to delivery to the end customer’s device. For this, it uses its own infrastructure for processing video content and at the same time its own CDN According to traffic monitoring on the CRa’s own CDN network, viewer interest in watching video content on the Internet continues to grow and has increased by more than 100% in the last two years.
