German media company Channel Factory GmbH plans to launch 14 special interest TV channels.
The channels, which Bavaria media authority BLM granted broadcast licences at its latest assembly, are four music channels (Deluxe Dance, Deluxe Flashback, Deluxe Rap, Deluxe Charts), four reportage channels (Xplore, Hip Trips, One Terra, R-Adventure Channel), two documentary channels (History-TV, Animals-TV) and four series and movie channels (Crime Mania, Series non-stop, Rediscover, Costumes only).
“Approving 14 new channels at once – that is a real push towards even more variety. BLM stands for strongly promoting diversity in formats and perspectives – especially in the digital world. The new approvals also further strengthen Bavaria as a media location,” BLM President Dr Thorsten Schmiege said in Munich.
Among the 14 channels are eight new music and reportage channel. Additionally, existing fictional or documentary content will be newly bundled in six channels. According to the BLM, the 14 thematic channels will broadcast 24/7 as advertising-financed free TV services via satellite and other infrastructures.
