German streaming service Joyn has shut down its US series channel Primetime.
When selecting the channel, viewers see an on-screen caption announcing the closure: “Dear Primetime friends, we regret to inform you that we are ceasing our broadcasts with immediate effect. We thank you very much for the last three years of loyalty to our channel. Your Primetime team.”
Reasons for the decision were not given. Primetime mainly showed US series and was available to users of both the free and subscription-based Joyn service.
Joyn launched as a joint venture between ProSiebenSat.1 and Discovery, but ProSiebenSat.1 now operates the service on its own.
