The Romanian public broadcaster TVR will relaunch its cultural channel on December 1, Romania’s Great Union Day, after an absence of ten years.
In his comments on the relaunch, Dan-Cristian Turturica, president DG of TVR, said: “I am lucky that during my mandate TVR Cultural is reborn and that I managed, together with the professionals of the public television, to restore to the public a prestigious brand, so valuable! Too few of the works and creations of Romanian artists reach a large number of spectators. We learn too little about their efforts and achievements from the mass media. Too many talents choose to leave the country to find fulfillment because too few of their countrymen have found out how extraordinary they are. We learn too little about those who left, succeeded and who spread delight to other countries. The vast majority of Romanians, unfortunately, live without being aware of the abundance of talent that can be found at their fingertips”.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, TVR was forced to close its cultural channel in September 2012 due to financial difficulties. The channel was originally launched in 2002.
