Bedrock launches new RTL+ Hungary

November 29, 2022 14.38 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The European streaming technology company Bedrock has successfully launched a D2C service for the newly rebranded RTL+ in Hungary.

Thanks to Bedrock’s platform ability to develop and support all types of features and tiers, RTL Hungary has put three tiers simultaneously on the market. These are:

AVOD: with RTL+ Light, the traditional catch-up TV offer;
Telcos: with RTL+ Activ that offers more premium content, thanks to partnerships and distributions deals;
SVOD: with the full package RTL+ that allows subscribers to enjoy RTL’s current linear shows and special content without ads, and with all premium streaming features (i.e. download for offline use, kids-section and multiple profiles).

The subscription-based and ad-free platform RTL+ is now the largest Hungarian streaming service, offering local and often exclusive content coming to web, mobiles and smart TVs.

Commenting on the launch, Gabriella Vidus, CEO of RTL Hungary, said: “Bedrock is a long-standing partner in the development of our VOD products and in the digital evolution of RTL, having helped us to innovate our VOD platforms RTL Most and RTL Most+. This joint work has now matured into the creation of RTL’s SVOD platform, RTL+. Thank you for a very efficient and quick collaboration”.

Jonas Engwall, CEO of Bedrock, added: “Bedrock’s mission is to support national broadcast leaders in their ambitions to be on-par with global giants. We’re proud to have worked closely with RTL teams in Budapest to deliver a state-of-the-art platform, including a powerful personalisation and leveraging data for RTL to promote and distribute its content the best possible way”.

As previously reported by Broadband TV News, RTL Hungary’s CEO Gabriella Vidus first provided details of RTL+ in late October.
