Deutsche Grammophon and Universal launch SVOD service for classical music

November 21, 2022 23.43 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

The world’s oldest record label, Deutsche Grammophon, a division of Universal Music Group, is launching classical music subscription service Stage+.

The SVOD platform contains live-streams of concerts, operas and other events, music videos, documentaries, interviews, new releases as well as albums from the Deutsche Grammophon and Decca catalogues, offered in 4K, Hi-Res and Dolby Atmos quality.

Stage+ aims to showcase new performances every week thanks to partnerships with international opera companies, orchestras, concert halls and festivals. Bayreuth will be one of the festivals initially featured, with a selection of performances from several decades.

“We are about to enter an exciting new era for streamed classical performances,” said Robert Zimmermann, Vice President Consumer Business, Deutsche Grammophon (DG). “Stage+ will explore the limitless creative and curatorial possibilities that digital technologies have to offer to bring the creative work of DG’s artists – and beyond – closer to their audience.”

Stage+ is available as a smart TV and smartphone/tablet app as well as directly on the web at www.stage-plus.com. The monthly subscription costs €14.90; a 12-month subscription is offered for €149.00 including a 14-day free trial.
