Cordiant Digital Infrastructure Limited has completed the acquisition of the Polish national transmission company Emitel.
It signed a contract for the transaction with the company’s previous owner Astatine Investment Partners (formerly known as Alinda Capital Partners and a leading private equity firm based in the US and London) on January 4. The closing of the deal was dependent on securing the necessary regulatory approvals from Ministry of State Assets (MAP), the Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA) and the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).
Commenting on the transaction, Steven Marshall, President of Digital Infrastructure, Cordiant Digital Infrastructure Management, said: “We would like to thank the Polish government for supporting this transaction and for the trust Cordiant Digital Infrastructure has shown. Emitel is a great company with great potential that is a leader in the field of sustainable development. We look forward to working with the company’s management team to implement our ambitious business plans and seize opportunities for further growth”.
Andrzej J. Kozlowski, president of Emitel, added: “Emitel is not only a leading terrestrial broadcasting network operator and one of the key players on the telecommunications infrastructure market in Poland. We also systematically invest in the development of modern wireless communication systems that drive the economy and solutions of the Internet of Things. I am convinced that the investment experience and know-how of Cordiant Digital will allow us to accelerate business development and take advantage of emerging market opportunities, such as the development of key “smart city” technologies.
“I would like to thank our current shareholder – Astatine Investment Partners – for support in the implementation of Emitel’s strategy and very good cooperation over the last seven years”.
