German media company ProSiebenSat.1 is not interested in acquiring pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland.
This was confirmed by Ralf Gierig, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of ProSiebenSat.1. “We are focused on linear-free TV and our digital footprint. Sky is in the pay-TV business, which is historically a difficult business in Germany,” Gierig told Reuters.
Last week, Reuters reported that ProSiebenSat.1 is exploring a potential deal to buy into Sky’s pay-TV operations in Germany, quoting two sources close to the matter. According to the report, Sky parent company Comcast is working with advisory firm PJT Partners as it is weighing a disposal of the German business.
The first rumours about a possible sale of Sky Deutschland emerged in late October 2022, suggesting that the pay-TV broadcaster could be valued at around €1 billion.
