The Russian incumbent telco Rostelecom is seeking funds from the government to develop its OTT service Wink.
Kommersant reports that it is particularly looking at cloud gaming and access to music and hopes to receive R1.16 billion (€18.8 million). It is also aiming to double Wink’s subscriber base by the end of 2023.
Of the R1.16 billion, R320 million is expected to be allocated to the purchase of infrastructure facilities.
Rostelecom’s plans for Wink also include the possibility of introducing User Generated Content (UGC) to the service.
