France’s Canal+ and TF1 have reached a long-term agreement that will renew, from Monday, November 7, the distribution of all TF1’s DTT and catch-up services on Canal+.
In a joint statement, the groups said that from this Monday subscribers to Canal+ Group offers and TNTSAT users will find all the live and replay programmes from TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films, LCI and the major events to come, including the 2022 FIFA World in Qatar, Late with Alain Chabat, Dancing with the Stars and Star Academy.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, in early September Canal+ Group said it had been forced to abandon the retransmission of TF1 and its digital channels after TF1 Group announced plans to review its commercial requirements.
TF1 reacted angrily to the move, which it said came after weeks of discussions and negotiations.
In a subsequent development, The French Court of Appeal ruled that Canal+ did not have to restore the retransmission of TF1 by satellite.
Broadband TV News notes that no financial of the new agreement have been disclosed.
