Belgium’s Telenet Group Holding has confirmed that it is in discussions with Orange concerning possible future network access on the VOO Network.
It made the statement following the publication of a press article regarding the acquisition of the Walloon cable operator VOO by Orange on Wednesday, November 2. Telenet added that it and Orange have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will structure further negotiations on this.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, last December Orange Belgium agreed to buy 75% less one share in VOO, a telecom operator that owns the cable network in the Walloon region and part of the Brussels region, for €1.8 billion.
Reuters reports that the new network deal is aimed at alleviating competition concerns in the midst of an EU investigation into the Orange/VOO transaction.
The European Commission paused its investigation last week while awaiting data from Orange.
