The Croatian telco Optima Telekom has officially become part of United Group’s Telemach.
Speaking to HINA and quoted by N1, which is also part of United Group, Telemach’s CEO Adrian Jezina said Optima Telekom will from now on operate under the Telemach brand. He added that Telemach will be able to compete more strongly with existing operators in the future because by integrating Optima, it will be able to access new groups of users, especially business, as well as geographical areas where it was not previously present.
Telemach will integrate more than 10,000 users of Optima’s fixed network services and the integration opens up access to Telemach’s infrastructure and services based on more advanced technology, from those on the 5G mobile and optical network to pay-TV (Eon). Furthermore, prices will not change as a result of the integration.
Jezina added that Telemach Hrvatska started the process of buying Optima in July 2021 by signing an agreement with Hrvatski Telekom (HT) and Zagrebacka banka on the purchase and sale of 54.31% of Optima shares, when the total value of Optima was determined at HRK639 million (€84.7 million) . After the completion of the takeover approval process and the completion of the takeover of the remaining shares in April of this year, Telemach Hrvatska has become the 100% owner of Optima, which started operating as the second alternative fixed telecom operator in 2005.
Jezina also said that Telemach is still on track to invest HRK1.7 billion between 2020-2025. Furthermore, by the end of the year over 100,000 Croatian households will have access to its high-speed fibre network.
