Orange lost almost 72% of its DTH subscriber base in Poland between Q3 2014 and the third quarter this year.
Quoted by Presserwis, Krzysztof Kacprowicz, the president of the Association of Electronic Media Employers and Telecommunications (Mediakom), believes that satellite TV is no longer crucial for Orange Polska. Meanwhile, the latter focused on its IPTV offer, which has seen its take-up increase by 488.15% over the same period.
Although Orange has previously leased its own transponders, it now only uses transmissions from Canal+ or Polsat Box (Cyfrowy Polsat), neither of which provide subscriber figures for their DTH services.
Orange Polska had 169,000 DTH subscribers at the end of Q3, compared to 600,000 eight years earlier.
This year’s total was 50.15% lower than Q3 2021.
