The number of FTTH lines in Spain increased by 1.1 million in the year to August.
According to data published by the regulator CNMC, the total at the end of August exceeded 13.4 million, with 79,514 new contracts reached during the month.
Telefónica’s Movistar remained the market leader in the FTTH sector, with 4.96 million lines, or a share of 37.1%.
CNMC notes that the number of DSL lines continued to decline, by 0.5 million in the year to August.
In the fixed broadband sector, Movistar, Orange (including Jazztel) and Vodafone (including Ono) had a combined market share of 77%. Movistar led with 35.26%, followed by Orange (23.51%), Vodafone (18.20%), MasMovil (18.76%) and others (4.26%).
