The Russian channels Rossiya 24, RTR Planeta and Perviy should be declared “terrorist organisations”, according to the Ukrainian regulator National Council.
In a statement, National Council goes on to say it has “expressed its position in letters to law enforcement agencies based on the monitoring of the programmes of these Russian channels regarding the terrorist attacks committed by the Russian Federation in Vinnytsia, Olenivka, and Chaplyne”.
The regulator also points that Ukrainian legislation notes that terrorist activity also includes an informational component. It also says that the three channels are broadcast on a satellite, and therefore can be viewed by a significant number of audiences in European countries.
National Council concludes by saying that in their broadcasts “informing about terrorist acts in Vinnytsia, Olenivka and Chaplyne”, they “misinformed, selectively disseminated information, gave certain advantages in the description of facts, which is exclusively a propaganda activity aimed at inciting war and its support in the audience of TV viewers of these TV channels”.
