Poland’s National Media Institute (KIM) has completed monitoring the level of Poles’ readiness to receive DVB-T2/HEVC terrestrial broadcasts.
According to the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), the research lasted for over a year and found that the number of household unable to receive such broadcasts fell from 2.27 million to 0.99 million over this period. It adds that the knowledge provided by KIM helped, amongst other things, to create an information campaign aimed at viewers.
Although Poland was due to complete the transition to DVB-T2/HEVC by June 30 this year, one multiplex (MUX-3), used by the public broadcaster TVP, is still being allowed to use the old DVB/AVC standard until December 31, 2023.
