The French government has forced the Odysee video platform to stop carrying the Russian channels RT France and Sputnik.
Both channels have been banned in the EU since March 2 and accused of being instruments of Kremlin “disinformation”.
According to Radio France, this ban applies not only to TV but platforms or applications “in the Union or towards the Union”. It adds that Jean-Noël Barrot, France’s minister delegate for digital transition and transformation, said: “At my request, the American platform Odysee has stopped broadcasting Russia Today France and Sputnik France. In the fight against propaganda and disinformation, we will not give in”.
Odysee was set up by the libertarian Jeremy Kaufmann and regards itself as an alternative to YouTube.
