International business continues to be a key driver for Canal+
The Vivendi pay-TV unit’s revenues for the first nine months were €4,292 million, a 1% increase on 2021.
Yannick Bolloré, Chairman of Vivendi’s Supervisory Board, and Arnaud de Puyfontaine, Chairman of the Management Board and CEO, said in a joint statement: “After the acquisition of M7 and SPI International, and strong growth in Africa, subscribers outside France now represent more than 60% of the group’s total customer base. In addition, in line with its internationalization strategy, Canal+ Group crossed the 25% level of ownership interest in MultiChoice in September.
Revenues from television operations in mainland France increase while the growth in the subscriber base continued.
However, Studiocanal’s revenues decreased by 30%, a reflection of an exceptional year its TV productions recorded in 2021 and the postponement of some of its new cinema releases to 2023
Canal+ Group has now moved into a new headquarter in Issy-les-Moulineaux, Paris. The Canal+ ONE complex brings together the France, International and Studiocanal teams in a single place for the first time in the company’s history.
