Two Hungarian professional associations representing small and medium sized cable operators will merge within a matter months.
Media1 reports that at a general assembly preceding a conference in Gyula a majority of members of the two associations – the Hungarian Communications Association (MKSZ) and the Hungarian Cable Television and Communications Association (MKHSZ) voted in favour of them merging. It adds that Ferenc Kéry, MKSZ president, and József Szántó (Oroscom) on behalf of MKHSZ, said that the merger of the two professional associations can be expected to be realised by the spring.
Media1 adds that it was also said at the conference that due to the drastic weakening of the forint, high inflation and the energy crisis, consumers are expected to soon have to prepare for price increases in this area as well, since the media providers themselves are planning to increase cable fees.
