Mathias Berg to lead reorganisation of Telia’s TV business

October 13, 2022 12.40 Europe/London By Julian Clover

The current VP, Head of Advertising Nordic and Deputy CEO TV4 Media is to join Telia Company’s Group Executive Management team as part of a major reorganization of the group’s TV interests.

Mathias Berg will take over from Casten Almqvist as SVP, Head of TV & Media, who leaves Telia after more than a decade leading TV4 and MTV, the last three of which as head of Telia’s TV & Media business.

Allison Kirkby, Telia Company President and CEO, said: “I am delighted and proud to promote Mathias into the role of SVP, Head of Telia’s TV & Media business unit, and to welcome him into our Group Executive Management team. Mathias’ extensive sector experience, sharp commercial acumen and deep understanding of Telia’s TV & Media assets having been in various leadership roles in TV4 Media for eight years, makes him the perfect candidate to succeed Casten and lead our TV4 and MTV businesses into their next exciting, more digital phase.”

Telia Company is also simplifying its TV and media operations. Berg will bring together all of Telia’s linear and streaming content under TV4 and MTV.

Mathias Berg says: “Telia’s ambitious transformation builds on TV4 and MTV’s digital success to date, and I am excited to lead the business during this next phase of digital transformation. Bringing our broadcast and streaming resources together to create one national go-to destination will allow for an outstanding viewer experience no matter how, where and when viewers want to watch our amazing content.”

TV4 in Sweden and MTV in Finland will now span linear, AVOD, HVOD, and SVOD streaming services. As part of the initiative, C More premium content will be transferred into the TV4 Play and MTV Katsomo streaming services, offering a more focused slate of premium Nordic content.
