Video Solutions secures Sailing Bundesliga rights for wedotv

October 11, 2022 11.06 Europe/London By Broadband TV News Correspondent

Video Solutions AG has acquired the exclusive live broadcast rights of the German Sailing Bundesliga.

The media company will show all races live worldwide and exclusively from the 2023 season on its free, ad-financed streaming service wedotv. Next weekend, October 14 and 15, 2022, wedotv will screen this year’s season finale of the Sailing Bundesliga live.

“We are delighted about the strong interest in the Sailing Bundesliga, which we have added to our sports line-up this year. With the exclusive live broadcast of the races, wedotv will be the number one destination for sailing sports fans from 2023. At the same time, we offer our advertising partners access to a highly attractive, high-income target group,” said Philipp Rotermund, founder and CEO of Video Solutions AG.

Oliver Schwall, Managing Director of the German Sailing Bundesliga, added: “The German Sailing Bundesliga is a highly attractive sports format and inspires sailors and sports fans alike. Our live coverage uses the latest technologies and possibilities of modern sports reporting and thus makes sailing sports tangible for all viewers.”

This season, the races of the Sailing Bundesliga were shown live on wedotv, YouTube and Facebook – from 2023 they will be available exclusively on wedotv. In addition to the Sailing Bundesliga, wedotv will continue to broadcast the Sailing Champions League live non-exclusively next year.

Founded in 2013, the Sailing Bundesliga is Germany’s most important national club competition in sailing. Each season lasts from May to October and comprises seven three-day competitions with 48 races each. Each individual race lasts a maximum of 20 minutes; due to identical boats for all participants, equal conditions prevail for all participating clubs.

With the exclusive rights to the German Sailing Bundesliga, wedotv is further expanding its sports rights portfolio. The streaming service will also again broadcast all major international equestrian competitions live in 2023, including Royal Ascot, Arc de Triumph, The Grand National and Breeders’ Cup. The sports line-up also includes weekly programmes with highlights from Formula 1, football, e-sports, and martial arts.

wedotv is available as an app on most smart TVs, streaming devices and platforms, including Android, iOS, Samsung, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Roku, as well as directly on the web at wedotv.com. In addition to wedotv, Video Solutions AG also operates the ad-financed, linear channels wedo movies and wedo big docs.
