NHK is to cut the cost of watching its channels over satellite.
The current satellite contract allows viewers in Japan to watch both satellite and terrestrial channels.
At a press conference, NHK President Terunobu Maeda said the public broadcaster was preparing to lower the fee by approximately 10% from next October.
The change is to be discussed at a management meeting today (Tuesday).
If approved the reduction would be the first since October 2020.
