TF1 Group is to appoint former Eutelsat boss Rodolphe Belmer as its new chairman and chief executive officer.
The 53-year-old was at the helm of Eutelsat Communications for six years, following a 14-year career at Canal Plus where he was appointed CEO in 2003 and served as group managing director from 2012 to 2015.
In January he was appointed chief executive officer of French IT company Atos, only to leave six months later in a dispute over its future direction.
Gilles Pélisson, currently chairman and chief executive officer of the TF1 Group, will formally propose Belmer in a board meeting on October 27.
The roles of chairman and chief executive officer will then be separated until 13 February 2023, when Belmer would be proposed as chairman and chief executive officer of the TF1 Group.
Pélisson will then join TF1’s parent, Bouygues Group, as deputy chief executive officer of the Bouygues Group in charge of Media and Development.
Belmer is also a board member of Netflix and sits on the streamer remuneration committee.
The appointment follows this week’s collapse of the merger between TF1 and RTL’s M6.
