Türksat teams up with Avanti

September 15, 2022 11.55 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Türksat has signed a five-year agreement with Avanti Communications, a leading Ka-band high-throughput satellite capacity operator for the satellite communications industry.

As a result, Türksat and Avanti customers in regions with limited terrestrial infrastructure will be provided with a comprehensive and continuous satellite coverage in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The contract will combine the capacity and coverage areas of Türksat-5B, the new member of Türksat’s fleet, and Avanti’s Hylas 4 and Hylas 2 satellites, and will provide customers with GEO HTS (High Throughput Satellite) Ka-band access over 100 Gbps.

Commenting on the agreement, Türksat general manager Hasan Hüseyin Ertok said: “As Türksat, we are pleased to announce that we have further strengthened our existing partnership with Avanti at this great event, World Satellite Business Week 2022, where we came together to seek and discuss ways to combat digital discrimination more effectively with our satellites. We believe that Türksat and Avanti are a perfect match to complement each other in terms of coverage and capacity in Africa and the Middle East, where we see a high increase in communication needs. We believe this partnership will create significant potential and bring more value and convenience to different customers in many ways”.

Avanti CEO Kyle Whitehill added: “We are pleased to announce this new partnership with Türksat, especially at one of the most important satellite events of the year. Considering the rapidly changing satellite industry, Avanti and Türksat, as two strong regional GEO operators, have joined forces to offer our customers greater coverage and capacity. We have a strong business relationship with Türksat and we share a common goal to combat digital discrimination by establishing better connections in areas where terrestrial infrastructure is limited for the sector. We are excited to see the positive impact this new partnership will have and the opportunities it will open up to customers”.
