Croatia is likely to have one million pay-TV connections at some stage in 2023.
Figures published by the regulator HAKOM show that as of the end of the second quarter the total already stood at 932,000, which was almost 60,000 more than in the same period last year. All told, 66.5% of households subscribed to some for of pay-TV service, up from 59% a year earlier.
IPTV was the leading technology for pay-TV services, used by 505,902 households as of the end of Q2. This was 13.12% more than a year earlier. The number of cable TV homes was 181.733 (+1.87%), DTH 138.815 (-4.76%) and pay-DTT 105,793 (+2.4%).
Meanwhile, the number of terrestrial TV only homes fell by 22.62% over the year to 468,781. Pay-TV revenues in Q2 amounted to HRK220,680,380 (€29,305,030) up 4.51% on a year earlier.
