Loewe integrates HD+ into smart TVs via HbbTV OpApp

September 13, 2022 20.34 Europe/London By Broadband TV News Correspondent

Loewe is another TV set manufacturer to integrate German DTH satellite TV platform HD+ directly into its smart TVs.

Viewers do not need any additional hardware such as a CI+ module, a smart card or a TV stick for reception. All TV sets based on the Loewe Chassis SL7, including the OLED models ‘Loewe bild i’, the compact TVs ‘Loewe bild c’ and the TVs of the ‘We. by Loewe’ brand, are suitable for direct HD+ access. The function is activated through software upgrade automatically downloaded into the TV sets via the internet.

To get to know HD+, viewers can receive the service 6 months free of charge, including the interactive add-on features such as restarting the currently running programme, without registration or obligations.

Technically, the virtual set-top box within the smart TV is made possible by the OpApp specification of the HbbTV standard. After Panasonic, Samsung, Vestel, TP Vision and Hisense, Loewe is the sixth TV set manufacturer to offer viewers direct access to HD+ via HbbTV OpApp.
