IBC has announced its first in person show in almost three years attracted 37,071 visitors from 170 countries.
The figure will be a relief to organisers who had welcomed 56,390 in 2019.
“It was great to see, feel and hear the buzz of a live IBC once more,” said Michael Crimp, IBC’s Chief Executive Officer. “The quality of visitors has been outstanding and there was a real sense of positivity. We are stronger together.”
The show floor agreed telling Broadband TV News that while the ‘tyre-kickers’ had stayed at home those attending has wanted to do businesses.
Halls 3, 4 and 14 were removed, and there were fewer double decked stands, as exhibitors reduced their floorspace. But this just added to the impression of a busy show.
Exhibitors included major media, entertainment and technology players Adobe, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Avid, Blackmagic Design, Canon, Comcast, Fraunhofer, Google, Grass Valley, Hewlett Packard, Imagine Communications, MediaKind, Microsoft, Nagra, NEP Group, Net Insight, Red Bee Media, Sony, Synamedia and, Telstra.
Dave Duvall, Chief Information Officer of Warner Bros. Discovery, noted: “The return to in-person and to be able to shake hands with people and say hello and have the show floor experience is just really great.”
Allen Broome, Chief Executive Officer, MediaKind, added: “MediaKind’s return to IBC reinforces the importance of showcasing our next-generation solutions and collaborating with customers, partners, and the industry community face to face. We continue to see great value in the quality of networking and business opportunities that IBC enables.”
IBC 2023 will be held between 15 – 18 September 2023.
