Arqiva and MediaKind have announced the launch of a new “headend-as-a-service”.
Arqplex has been designed as a fully managed service for broadcasters and network or platform operators, including leading global, regional, and national broadcasters and regional cable and satellite network operators.
It will provide secure and reliable content aggregation, encoding, multiplexing and packaging for content distribution and will unify OTT and broadcast operations, reducing complexity, increasing efficiency, and delivering rapid speed to market for customers.
Launching the proposition at IBC 2022, Carl Furgusson, Head of Portfolio Development, MediaKind and Matthew Huntington, Director of Product, Arqiva, promised one international customer would be on board this year with a second in 2021.
Arqplex supports both public and private cloud, Huntington pointed to Discovery and NBCUniversal as companies that had adopted public cloud, and the product would be built on a cloud-based subscription model
The existing Arqplex roadmap will be extended further, with Arqiva and MediaKind integrating a range of partners to expand the service’s capabilities. Arqiva has already begun the process of migrating existing headend customers to the new headend-as-a-service offering
Arqiva and MediaKind first announced their partnership in December 2021.
