SRG enhances TV content protection with Viaccess-Orca

September 7, 2022 10.36 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Swiss public broadcaster SRG SSR recently introduced a new smartcard version of Viaccess-Orca’s (VO) conditional access system (CAS) for the security of its satellite TV distribution.

Embedded within set-top boxes, the system features the latest, fastest chipset and new-generation smartcard security, providing SRG with a best-of-breed solution for content protection and rights management, according to Viaccess-Orca.

“As Switzerland’s public media company, we provide an important service to society, broadcasting a wide range of content including news, culture, education, entertainment, and sports,” said Simon Blumer, Head of Technical Communications at SRG. “Having a CAS that is reliable and simple to deploy is imperative, and VO’s newest smartcard technology is an ideal solution for us.”

“Swiss Broadcasting Corporation has been a valued customer of ours for 25 years, and we’re excited to help the organisation usher in a new era of content protection with our latest smartcard technology,” said Pascal Birot, Vice President of Sales EMEA at Viaccess-Orca. “VO’s new-generation smartcard is a game-changer for pay-TV operators and broadcasters, enabling them to carry out important tasks such as data encryption, authentication, and more.”

VO will showcase its solutions at IBC2022, stand 1.A51.
