The Bosnian incumbent BH Telecom will withdraw United Media’s N1 from its channel line-up after this Wednesday (August 31).
According to N1, this follows the failure of the parties to agree an extension of a contract for distribution of the channel, which is the exclusive partner of CNN for Bosnia & Herzegovina (BiH) and the region.
NI believes the action is politically motivated as campaigning for a General Election is about to get under way in BiH and BH Telecom’s management have links to the ruling SDA party.
It also points out that alongside planning to withdraw N1 from its offer the telco plans to add channels from Telekom Srbija.
In a late development on Wednesday, August 30, United Media announced it had sent a new offer to BH Telecom. It was the same as other operators and it was now down to the telco to prove that its decision to withdraw the channel was not political.
