United Group ended the first half with 15.384 million RGUs, or 37% more than a year earlier.
In Q2 alone, it gained 133,000 RGUs. In its latest results, the company notes that this positive trend was primarily driven by the acquisitions of Greece’s Wind Hellas and Croatia’s Optima Telekom, as well as organic growth of cable pay-TV, mobile and internet services.
Wind Hellas and organic growth helped the number of cable pay-TV RGUs increase by 4% to 1.653 million in the year to June 30. At the same time, the total number of DTH pay-TV RGUs remained constant at 1.011 million.
United Group’s revenues in H1 amounted to €1,267.6 million, or 39% more than in the same period last year. Adjusted EBITDAal was €444.9 million (+29%) and loss before tax €62 million, compared to a loss of €7.9 million in H1 2021. Vivacom (Bulgaria) and Wind Hellas accounted for the most revenue (22% each).
Broadband TV News notes that United Group has expanded its activities significantly in South East Europe since being acquired by BC Partners in March 2019.
In its latest results, the company says: “United Group continually monitors M&A opportunities and is currently in the early stages of evaluating multiple potential opportunities. In line with its stated strategy, the Group is looking for acquisitions that are value accretive and offer substantial synergies with the Group’s existing operations”.
