Alberto Horta to leave Warner Bros. Discovery

August 9, 2022 21.56 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Alberto Horta, VP Commercial Development and Deputy Managing Director of Discovery Communications Deutschland and Head of Tele 5, will leave the broadcast group.

“In the always exciting past 15 years, I have been able to implement numerous projects relevant to the company and build many long-term strategic partnerships at local and international level. Following the completion of Tele 5’s realignment and the successful launch of the Discovery+ streaming service, I will now leave the company to pursue new professional challenges,” said Horta.

Hannes Heyelmann, General Manager of parent company Warner Bros Discovery for Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH), said: “During his many years of service, Alberto Horta has made a significant contribution to the extensive growth and successful strategic development of the Discovery business, particularly in the DACH region. With Alberto Horta, an experienced executive leaves our company who is not only highly respected throughout the industry, but who has also been committed to diversity and the development of young talent. We thank Alberto Horta for all he has done and wish him all the best, both personally and professionally.”

As Discovery’s VP Commercial Development and Head of Tele 5, Horta was responsible for the strategy development and commercial direction of Warner Bros Discovery Deutschland in the areas of distribution, ad sales and digital. He was responsible for the markets Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Before Horta was appointed to the German management team in 2013 and deputy managing director in 2016, he held various roles in Discovery’s international business. Before that, he worked for sports broadcaster Eurosport.
