Türk Telekom’s fibre network now covers 30.6 million households.
This, according to Ümit Önal, amounts to 92% of the country’s total.
Önal was commenting on the company’s Q1 results and the occasion of it connecting the historic part of Istanbul to fibre. “Türk Telekom’s infrastructure is Turkey’s infrastructure. Fibre means Türk Telekom in Turkey. As the pioneer of digital transformation in Turkey, we are working with high motivation to fiberise all parts of our country. In this context, we have fiberised the whole of the Historic Peninsula, which has hosted many civilizations with its deep-rooted past, and the Grand Bazaar, the attraction centre of Istanbul”.
Önal added that the length of Türk Telekom’s fibre network had increased from 304,000 to 372,000 km between the end of 201 and Q1 this year.
Over the same period, its fibre household coverage had increased from 21.9 million to 30.6 million, and as of Q1 its fibre (FTTH/FTTB) connection figure of more than 9 million was continuing to grow rapidly.
