wedo movies launches on Zattoo and Astra/HbbTV

July 13, 2022 09.50 Europe/London By Broadband TV News Correspondent

Video Solutions AG is expanding the distribution of its advertising-financed, free movie channel wedo movies.

The channel can now be received on TV streaming platform Zattoo in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, forming part of all packages including the free bouquet. In addition to the linear 24-hour channel, the customers of the Zattoo subscription packages can use interactive functions such as pausing and time-shifting, catch-up and recording.

Additionally, wedo movies is expanding into the DTH satellite market via an HbbTV satellite signal on Astra (19.2° East). Satellite households with a TV set or set-top-box suitable for the HbbTV standard and connected to the internet will see wedo movies on their TV channel list after a channel search: The HbbTV signalisation is transmitted on Astra while the actual channel reaches TV screens via the internet.

“The partnership with Zattoo and the move into satellite households are further important steps to expand the distribution of wedo movies and to make it as easy as possible for viewers to receive the channel,” said Philipp Rotermund, founder and CEO of Video Solutions AG.

The company recently expanded the reach of wedo movies by launching the channel on Deutsche Telekom’s TV platform MagentaTV. “Negotiations are underway with further platform operators,” said Rotermund.

The advertising-financed, free movie channel wedo movies can also be received on Samsung TV Plus, waipu.tv, rlaxx TV, LG Channels, Philips, Rakuten TV, Xiaomi, Netgem and TCL.
