Amazon Prime has launched a season pass, in France, for its coverage of Ligue 1 football.
Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 will be offered for an annual fee of €89 that will be on offer from 11 July until 28 August, when the first match PSG v Monaco is screened. The fee will then settle at €99.
The package will include the ten top picks from Ligue 1 and a multiplex of the Ligue 2 fixture programme.
Subscribers will first need to hold a subscription to Amazon Prime itself, which is €49 per year or €5.99 per month. It means the total subscription for French viewers is €12.99.
No details have been given on audiences, though Amazon has revealed that one million people watched the big games during December.
In addition, the Ligue 2 multiplex will no longer be broadcast by the L’Équipe channel, but Amazon is working with the group to sell other rights to the League. The agreement with TF1, which allowed the first channel to broadcast extracts of matches in its Sunday programme Téléfoot, has not been renewed for the time being, though it’s likely something might be signed before the new season.
