Vodafone Spain has expressed its willingness to negotiate with DAZN over the audiovisual rights for Spanish football for next season.
According to El Economista, Hisham Hendi, the new director of Vodafone Spain’s consumer unit, said the company is happy to hold a conversation with content providers as long as prices do not put pressure on the business.
While acknowledging that there have until now been no contact between Vodafone Spain and DAZN, which holds the rights to Spanish football, he also said there is still time before the start of the new season in mid-August.
El Economista says that Hendi spoke at a presentation in Madrid in which he also discussed new tariff plans. The company’s commercial proposal will be reduced from eight to four plans, and with no changes in current prices.
Broadband TV News notes that DAZN holds exclusive broadcasting rights for 175 LaLiga matches from 2022/23 to 2026/7.
In March it entered a non-exclusive distribution agreement with Telefónica.
