Slovakia’s Antik Telecom has announced price changes to some of its services due principally to increases in TV channel transmission fees.
From the beginning of August, the cost of its fibre internet service, offering 1 Gbps internet access, 170 TV channels and telephony, will rise to €22.80 a month. Also, the price of the basic Tango package on fixed networks will increase from €7.88 to €9.90 a month. Antik notes that the change applies to packages that include channels from the Slovak commercial broadcasters Markiza and Joj.
On the other hand, there are no price changes for other TV packages, satellite TV services without the internet, or AntikTV services for the distribution of live broadcasts over the internet. The company will also keep the same price of €17.92 a month for wireless or optical internet without television or internet package with TV without the mentioned Slovak commercial stations. In the case of the monthly price of the internet of €17.92, Antik has kept it unchanged since the beginning of the provision of services for more than 20 years (with the exception of the introduction of VAT).
Commenting on the development, Vlastimil Lakatos, Antik Telecom TV manager, said: “Confronted with the consequences of the unprecedented increase in costs throughout society, which are multiplied in our industry by the rise in retransmission fee prices, we have long considered how and for how long we can resist them at Antik. In addition to searching for internal reserves in operation, we are unfortunately forced to adjust the price of the popular basic package, which contains up to 170 channels. We have made sure that the combination of the internet with the most popular TV programmes and telephony remains the most advantageous on the market. After the new one, it will cost a total of €22.80 per month.
“At the same time, we are very happy that we managed to keep the prices of the fastest internet below €18 per month. We thus give our clients the opportunity to continue to use the services on the most advantageous terms and, if necessary, to save further”.
